Golden throne and footrest
Peter The Great is featured in the painting behind the throne. The golden two-headed eagle sculptured standing on top of the frame of the painting is the Romanov dynasty’s coat-of-arms. You can also see the double-headed eagle on the red fabric of the throne. |

Van Gogh's
"Spectators in the Arena at Arles" painted in 1888. We were in southern France in 2001, and spent time in Arles tracing Van Gogh's footsteps. Hermitage Museum has a great collection of French impressionists', as well as Matisse and Picasso's. |
