Day 8, Malaga

Malaga is a bustling and prosperous city.

A statue of the great matador, Antonio Ordonez, at the gate of the bullring in Malaga.

Malaga's bull ring.

In the bull ring there is a mall museum honoring Antonio Ordonez.

Antonio's bullfighting suits in the museum.

More of Antonio's suits.

Eduardo explained to us the rules when a matador may get to keep one ear from the bull he killed,
when he may get to keep both ears, and when he may also get to keep the tail.

A view to the bull ring arena as we were exiting the museum.

A young apprentice demonstrated while Eduardo explained more bull-fighting rules to us.
The pink cape the young man was holding was very heavy.

Eduardo asked the young man what his mother said upon learning he wanted to be a bull fighter.
The young man replied that his mother thought he was crazy.

Picasso's parents' house where Pablo Picasso grew up as a child is on this same building
but further to the left on the corner. (Not pictured.)

The bell tower of Malaga's Cathedral

Tour member Marcia standing in front of a seafood restaurant which
advertises by displaying seafood on ice by the front door.
It looked like our kind of restaurant!

An elegant street with beautiful X'mas decoration off Constitution Square.

Another shot of the delightful street.

We got on our tour bus for an 1-hour ride from Malags to the village of Salinas where
several families would host our group for lunch. Outside the bus we saw more olive trees.

A wood craft factory in Salinas.

The front door to our hostess' home (photo with our hostess).

She set up a table in the living room for the 6 of us.  (Vincent was behind the camera.)

The hostess' backyard. See the tiled wall?

Back at Torremolinos in the evening, we went to downtown Torremolinos for dinner.

This San Miguel street leads from downtown main square to the beach where our hotel is.
San Miguel street is lined with shops and restaurants.

A very popular bakery along San Miguel street.

More tempting sweets from the bakery.
