Day 9, Cefalù
Buying train tickets. We took a cab from our hotel to Palermo's train
station, Stazione Centrale.
According to this display board, our 9:10 train to
Cefalù departs from platform 5.
Our train ticket. The train we took was a commuter train, therefore it was open
seating.
A commuter train ticket is good for use within 60 days from
the date of purchase.
You must time-stamp your ticket in a yellow box at the train station before boarding a train.
On 9:10 commuter train. It was Sunday morning therefore the train was not
crowded.
The Cathedral of Cefalù
The outdoor table of a pastecceria in front of the Cathedral.
We sat down and ordered watermelon ice and coffee (espresso).
Our pricy Anguria granita (watermelon ice). But it was worth while,
because later we tried watermelon ice cream at Spinnato in Palermo, but
at 2.30 Euro per dish, watermelon ice cream was not half as good as this watermelon
ice.
Along Cefalù's sea shore - at a scenic viewing spot
Porta Marina - a landmark at one end of the beach
Lovely sandy beach.
La Vecchia Marina where we had lunch - with a premium ocean view too.
Fried sardine, grilled sepia and grilled sardine, all excellent.
With mixed salad, marinated octopus, and mineral water, our lunch bill came
to 72 Euro.
Sandy beach.
taking a break to wash off the salt ...
We passed by this restaurant with an impressive appetizer spread.
