Day 3, Catania
This is the bus terminal in Taormina, just behind Hotel Ariston's back
entrance.
A ticket is good for both Interbus and ETNA bus. We took ETNA bus which goes to
Catania via highway.
On an ETNA bus to Catania. The lady next was very nice, but we lacked
a
common language to communicate.
The Elephant Fountain at Catania's Piazza del Duomo.
Pizza del Duomo. A group of school children were visiting the city.
.
Catania's Duomo, the cathedral.
Inside the cathedral.
The fish market (Pescheria) is right next to the cathedral.
Spada, sword fish.
A small fish stand.
Olives.
vegetables and fruits.
Mei-Ching looked at a bag of oregano, but decided not to buy it just
yet.
Our lunch at Trattoria La Paglia, recommended by locals and also listed by
Lonely Planet.
These were our appetizers, stuffed sardine (cold, therefore not
very tasty),
octopus and squid salad, mussels and grilled eggplant.
An entree, pan-seared spada with salt and pepper, too much salt for our
taste.
Catania's bus terminal, waiting for a bus to go back to Taormina.
We took Interbus back to Taormina, which goes along coastal road,
therefore more scenic but also took much longer time.
Taormina's Isola Bella islet.
Back in Taormina, we had our first dine-around dinner at IL Ciclope.
The lady between Mei-Ching and Vincent is team member Elaine Nevins from New York city.
