Day 10, Corleone

Beautiful countryside scenery on the way to Corleone.

Corleone has a very pretty town center.
This is their Villa Comunale (public garden) where four elder Sicilian men
hung out at a park bench.

Inside the anti-Mafia building with Gino (the young man with a checkered shirt).

Gino explained to us the story behind each gruesome photo on the walls.
Later we moved to a conference room to hear more Mafia histories and government efforts,
as well as questions and answers.

At a countryside restaurant called Antica Stazione for an anthentic Sicilian lunch.
This restaurant was converted from an old railroad station.

Appetizers - a small arancini (fried rice ball), fried chickpea flour, and a wedge of baked zucchini with egg.

Grilled vegetable.

Dessert (but no coffee).

Vincent showed off his new purchase - a Sicilian hat bought in Corleone.

Large cruise ship docking at Palermo harbor, only 10 minutes walk from our hotel.

Back at Palermo, we went to Mensa Del Popolo for dinner, a restaurant near our hotel
and was recommended by Marizio.

Seafood risotto, fried shrimp and calamari, pizza with eggplant and mushroom.
A nice and very reasonably priced dinner.
