Day 13, Cape Sounion and Athens

The last full day of our trip kicked off before dawn.
At 5:15 am we all met at Blue Star ferry's lounge, ready for disembarkation.

The lady in white shirt in the center is Maria, OAT's Greece Director. Maria boarded
Galileo at Syros last Wednesday to help managing our itinerary due to strong winds.

After checking in at an Athens hotel and had a bountiful breakfast,
we were on a bus to Cape Sounion. This was one of the beaches we passed.

Another scenery on the way. Cape Sounion is 70 km south of Athens.

The visible structure on top of the mountain is Temple of Poseidon, our destination.

More scenic blue Aegean water on the way before we reached the Temple.

Menelaos gave us a run-down of the history of the Temple of Poseidon.

The template was built in 444 BC, at the same time as the Parthenon of the Acropolis.
Only 16 columns of the Temple remain.

The views from the hill top was very pretty, beautiful palettes of blue.

Needless to say it was very windy.

Another beautiful scenery on the bus back to Athens.

We were treated to a souvlaki lunch, family style.
The restaurant is at 71 Adrianou, just next door to O Thanasis (69 Adrianou) where
we enjoyed a hearty lunch at the beginning of the trip.

In the evening we had a farewell dinner at this restaurant, with views to the Acropolis.

After dinner, there were Greek dancing for entertainment.
