Entrance to the Haus der Musik (House of Music).
A room about the history of Vienna Philharmonic.
Perception of Sound
Physics of Sound
(May be our daughter-in-law Elena will be more interested in this?)
Composer Mozart's room has a painting of the whole family.
A quote from Beethoven.
In Schubert's room.
Those were people who played an important part in Schubert's life.
A painting of Schubert playing music among friends.
Schubert and friends staging a play.
What Schubert said makes sense, right?
In Gustav Mahler's room.
Mahler loved nature. He often retreated to woods.
That's why Mahler's room has all these trees in it.
In another room where one may pretend to be a conductor for a few moments.
You choose a music piece, then raise your baton to conduct.
The orchestra in the video would play the music fast or slow or vigor or soft as you directed.
VT would love to try directing Blue Danube. However,
these stations (there were 2 of them) seemed to be monopolized by small
children encouraged by their doting parents.
Therefore, adults did not get to have their turns.
Beef noodles and Home-Style Tofu for a late lunch.
A flower vendor on Kärntner Straße.
The slogan "No Kangaroos in Austria" was made into many souvenirs.
It wants to remind you that Austria is not Australia.
A sweet shop on Kärntner Straße.
On top of the counter in a glass-domed cake server were Sacher Torte, at €5.40 a slice.
Many other coffee shops also serve Sacher Torte, but
only Cafe Sacher has the exclusive right to call its version "the original".
(You may read more about Cafe Sacher and Sacher Torte on Day#6.)
