10/13/22, Day 3, Three Beethoven Sites

We took Tram#D to its last stop Nussdorf/Beethovengang.

Beethoven Museum.
(Every nationally designated site has Austrian flags (red & white strips) flying outside.)

A tranquil courtyard in this museum (formerly a baker's house).

Beethoven placed a metal reflector on top of the piano to resonate the sound
to help him hear, because he was near deaf.

Mayer am Pfarrplatz, a Heuriger about 100 yards down the road from the Beethoven Museum.

This winery honors Beethoven’s legacy by featuring his image on the wine bottles.

The restaurant has a lovely garden setting,
but the weather was cool, so guests sat inside.

Beethoven lived in an upstairs room in 1817.

Mayer's menu.

The restaurant was very cozy.
We ordered a traditional Viennese Schnitzel and a fried chicken.
MC's fried chicken in the basket was amazingly tender. The serving consisted of a breast quarter,
a leg quarter, a chicken wing, and a chicken liver! All crispy outside and tender inside.

VT's veal Schnitzel was huge.

The parish church in the square which gave the square its name.
The square was very quiet and very lovely.
(We then left by taxi to the Pasqualati house on the ring road.)

Exterior of the Pasqualati house on Vienna's ring road.
The red & white national flags were flying by the front entrance.

A sign at the front entrance directed museum goers to come to this side-door to enter.
Beethoven's top floor apartment is European's 4th floor, but American's 5th floor.

Beethoven had to climb these stairs 5 flights up to reach his apartment.
(The rooms in other parts of the building are still being lived in by people today.
I wonder how they installed kitchens and bathrooms to modernize the living conditions?)

We did not take photos in the museum, therefore this picture is from the museum's website.
The 5 rooms were very bright and airy, and had great views to the city outside.
No wonder he was very productive while living in this apartment.
